1. King Krule - “Border Line”
An excellent song from one of my favorite album discoveries this year, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon. Probably one of the more up-tempo, good mood songs on the record, this served as my introduction to King Krule. I recommend this as a first listen as well for others looking to get into the artist. 2. Tame Impala - “Borderline” The standout single (for me) from Tame Impala’s 2020 album The Slow Rush, this song is incredibly hard not to love from any standpoint. With a typically infectious drum pattern as well as angelic vocals from Kevin Parker, this one fits in well on the shelves upon shelves of Tame classics. 3. Solange - “Borderline (An Ode to Self Care)” Beautifully blending trap drums and synth runs with her own harmonic singing (with help from A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip), Solange shows how well she is able to play off of her production with her singing, and vice versa. Standing as a great representation of an album that ranks among the greatest of 2016, this one will forever be special to me.
